Synopsis
Michael Nyman's mini-opera uses letters between
Mozart and his father as the basis of the libretto. The composer is played by the female vocalist Ute Lemper and the bass David Thomas is both
Mozart's father Leopold and the opera character Sarastro. Nyman appears as himself on trial in a court hearing, accused of plagiarising
Mozart's music.
