Studio Space: Little White Feather and the Hunter

A Film by Anna Lucas

Following an encounter with a lute-playing anthropologist Pocahontas enthusiast in Essex, UK last summer, artist Anna Lucas travelled around Virginia, USA in the autumn of 2007 suing the local legendary figure of Pocahontas as a virtual guide. The resulting work interweaves multiple accounts of the Pocahontas story gathered from amateurs and experts in Harwich, Essex and around Jamestown, Virginia, USA. The voices are foregrounded by images of hunting and fishing and estuary landscapes of the Stour River and Chesapeake Bay.
