We continue our strand of programmes for the little ones – presenting a series of films, animations and cartoons to the wonder of children and parents alike.
What was intended as Mickey Mouse’s comeback short grew in scope and ambition to become Walt Disney’s third feature, a collection of eight segments introduced by music critic Deems Taylor and set to classical pieces conducted by Leopold Stokowski. Choreographed to the strains of Stravinsky, Beethoven, Ponchielli and others, Fantasia’s dancing mushrooms and hippos, Bald Mountain demons and sorcerer’s apprentice are among the most iconic images in cinema history.
