Shell

Shell

Synopsis

A 17-year-old girl lives with her father at a petrol station in the Scottish Highlands, rarely seeing anyone else. As she grows to adulthood, she begins to question her place in the world and her inexperience of normal life, while her withdrawn father is still haunted by his wife walking out on the family.

"a richly poetic drama set at a petrol station on a lonely road in the Highlands. The title character, teenaged Shell […], mans the station with her emotionally distant father Pete (Joseph Mawle), her only other contact coming from passing drivers – some regulars, others only travelling through the desolate terrain." – BFI
