Privacy Policy

Close-Up is committed to upholding the Data Protection principles of good practice. Protecting your privacy is important to us and we strive to keep all information relating to you confidential in accordance with these terms and the law. As part of the normal operation of our services you may voluntarily provide us with information about yourself. The purpose of this Privacy Statement is to explain what personal data we collect about you, how that personal data might be used and how we protect your personal data and privacy.

Data Collection

In order to subscribe you to one of our membership schemes, hire our services or purchase cinema tickets and provide you with information on products and services that may be of interest to you, we collect two classes of information about you:  

1/ "Contact information", i.e. information that could be used to contact you such as full name, postal address, phone number and email address which is then stored on our database.  
We use contact information to help us efficiently perform transactions and to deliver the services you have requested either as a Customer or a Member. We will only use the information you provide to communicate with you only regarding matters related to your membership subscription or the services you have requested from us.  

2/ "Demographic information", i.e. postal code, purchase history and age, which is also stored on our database.  

Financial information (i.e. credit and debit card numbers, bank account details) provided when either subscribing to one of our membership schemes by direct debit and/or purchasing online cinema tickets is never stored on our database.  

We use Gocardless to process membership Direct Debits. By setting up a direct debit with Gocardless, the information you provide will be used in accordance with their Privacy Policy:

We use Ticket Source to process online ticket purchases. By purchasing tickets using Ticket Source, the information you provide will be used in accordance with their Privacy Policy:

All other financial information you provide in person at Close-Up (i.e. credit and debit card numbers) are stored according to PCI DSS regulations.  

Close-Up only collects personal information about you when you specifically provide us with such information on a voluntary basis. We will not share your personal information for marketing or any other purposes without your consent unless where required by law.  

We will delete all your personal data from our database if you have not purchased, hired or used any of our services for more than 18 months.

Data Protection

Your data is stored on a local database. Our database is password protected and can only be accessed by authorised staff. We also use appropriate physical, electronic and managerial security measures to try to prevent that personal data from being accessed by unauthorised persons.  

Upon signing up to one of our membership schemes we will issue a membership card with your name and membership number on it as well as a unique password of your choice.  

Your membership card and password are strictly personal. This means that we may ask for proof of identity before we disclose personal data to you should you not be able to produce your membership card or if you have forgotten your password.

Email Marketing

After you provide us with your contact details in connection with subscribing to one of our membership schemes, you will be sent a one-off mailing list subscription opportunity.  

If you decide to subscribe to our mailing list, we will use the information you provide to send you updates and news about our film programmes, events and other cultural activities via email. Responsibility for Disclosure

Close-Up will not be responsible or otherwise liable for any use or disclosure of your contact, demographic or financial information by a third party to whom Close-Up is allowed to disclose your contact information under this privacy policy.
