5 Broken Cameras

5 Broken Cameras

Synopsis

When the Israeli government began to build the West Bank barrier through Emad Burnat’s village in 2005, the Palestinian farmer took his own course of action by filming the weekly demonstrations. Over the period of five years Emad shoots 700 hours of footage at the expense of five cameras which were destroyed during the filming as the protests of the villagers grew stronger. Together with Israeli filmmaker Guy Davidi, Burnat reviewed, edited and narrated the footage, creating a documentary that shows with remarkable tact and power a case of injustice on a massive scale. 5 Broken Cameras gives an insight at what it means to be at the receiving end of oppression with no choice but to fight the inevitable.
