Reproductions

Reproductions

Synopsis

"Reproductions comes across as a relatively quiet, contemplative film. The consistency in the quality and type of images, the random coming into focus and slow dissipation of a face, a detail of clothing or a landscape, and the scanning movement of the camera across the images, lend the film the quality of a journey through a specific personal archive of memories and experiences. The frequent interruptions of blinding light or obfuscating darkness, as well as the filmmakers' steadfast refusal over the course of the film's twenty-six minutes to relish in any vacation slide for a significant amount of time, disturb the sentimentality that sometimes characterizes such personal films." – Marc Siegel
